Hi Owl Groupies,
Just in case there are still people that haven't ticked it. The Northern
Hawk Owl was seen late Thursday (yesterday) afternoon but me (yippee) and a
couple very impressed non-birders on our way back from a Vancouver meeting.
Luckily it was been observed already or I don't think we would have located
the bird. Its now my favorite bird. We saw it just left of the blue house
above the compost piles where it has been regularly spotted. The bird was
quite low down when it was first seen (20 ft or so above the ground) at
about 4:30pm and it then flew to the tops of some cottonwood or alder 200
feet or so along the field. At this point it was silhouetted very well
against the sky and was easy to spot looking southeast.
Good luck if anyone is heading north for a look.
