Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday February 1. If you have anything to add call

On January 25 a TURKEY VULTURE and a BROWN PELICAN were near Gold Beach.
A BROWN PELICAN has been wintering in the Charleston area of Coos Bay. On
January 26 a BLACK PHOEBE was at Baker Beach north of Florence and a
RUDDY TURNSTONE was on the rocks at the Sea Lion Caves. The ROCK WREN
continues to winter at the helicoper hanger at the Newport Airport.

On January 29 over 150 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES flew north past the Boiler
Bay Viewpoint. A ROSS'S GOOSE was at Sunset Lake, just south of Camp
Rilea January 29. The South Jetty SNOWY OWL has not been seen lately.

Several flocks of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were reported during the week from
the Willamette Valley as the first northbound flights are arriving. A
FRANKLIN'S GULL has been seen during the week in Scappoose Bottoms among
the swarm of gulls attracted to the manure sprinkler. The EMPEROR GOOSE
is still being seen along Rentenaar Road on the east side of Sauvie
Island.

The BLACK PHOEBE continues to be seen at the end of Pheasant Lane in
Milwaukie. On January 25 a TURKEY VULTURE was southwest of Mollala. A
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was in Dundee January 25. At dusk January 27, 14
SHORT-EARED OWLS were east of Baskett Slough NWR at the railroad tracks
along Farmer Road. On January 28 a group of 8 WHITE-TAILED KITES was
along Tarter Road in the Airlie area of Polk County. Five EURASIAN WIGEON
were at Ankeny NWR January 28.

On January 27 a EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was southeast of Dallas at the
corner of Clow Corners Road and Ballard Road. It was not there January
31. It, or another was at Ankeny NWR January 31. On January 28 a EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL was in the Rogue Valley at Mingus Marsh in Central
Point.

A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was reported January 28 north of Brownsville. Two
different SAY'S PHOEBES are now in the Brownsville area. A TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE was near Brownsville January 28.
