At the pond at North Seattle Community College today:
- A family of pied-billed grebes, including two chicks. We've been watching
the adults for a while. The two young ones are great to look at: black and
white striping on the neck, plus orange on the head, and pinkish beak.

Other sights: a great blue heron, wood ducks (no longer in their breeding
plumage) many cedar waxwings and swallows. Heard the red winged blackbirds.
Flickers. There also appears to be an ever-expanding beaver lodge, though
I've never seen the beaver(s).

Kiwanis Ravine herons: Pam Cahn watched herons fledge from the Kiwanis
Ravine colony on the morning of June 28. Pam has been monitoring this
colony for months.
