On June 23, Jack & Murrel Dawson reported a juvenile SAY'S PHOEBE at their
Benton City home.

For the first time in recent years, a pair of COMMON LOONS in breeding
plumage were observed on June 23 and 24 on Indian Lake according to Kathy
Ertell. Indian Lake is approximately 20 miles east of Pilot Rock, south of
Pendleton.

Dennis Rockwell reported a female AMERICAN REDSTART in Two Rivers Park in
Finley on June 26. It was in the willows near the boat launch at the east
end of the park.

On June 25, Tom Aversa found 1 WHITE-FACED IBIS and 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS at
Kahlotus Lake. On the 26th he found 1 LEAST SANDPIPER and 1 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS at the Walla Walla delta and 5 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 2 GREATER and
7 LESSER YELLOWLEGS at the Iowa Beef ponds.

A good assortment of birds were observed at the Paterson Slough Unit of the
Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge by Bill LaFramboise on June 30. There
were 2 FRANKLIN'S & 4 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 93 FORSTER'S TERNS, 2 WILSON'S
PHALAROPES, as well as 6 BUFFLEHEAD and a male NORTHERN PINTAIL among the
assortment of ducks. On July 3, the Franklin's Gulls were not relocated,
but a female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was among the waterfowl and shorebirds
included KILLDEER, AMERICAN AVOCET, BLACK-NECKED STILT, SPOTTED, WESTERN
and LEAST SANDPIPERS, and 3 WILSON'S PHALAROPES.
