On 7/2, a NORTHERN PARULA was observed singing at the south end of Jewel
Lake in Tilden Park. (BF)

On the morning of 7/1 a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen in Tilden Park,
flying back and forth across road between Jewel Lake and the nature center,
just past naturalist's residence. (JH)


Humboldt County
------------------------------------------------------------

On 6/30/01 The continued presence of WHITE-EYED VIREO found approximately
6/15/01 was reported in Elkshead. On 6/30/01 the bird was observed singing
at about 6:15 a.m. The bird has been seen as late as 9:30 a.m., but later
in the morning it is quieter and moves around more=97it=92s best to try for=
it
early in the morning. (JS)

On 6/30 a pair of NORTHERN PARULA were seen; a singing male and female on a
nest, apparently incubating eggs were found near milepost 3.26 on
Stagecoach Road. Location is just north of town of Trinidad, approx 10
miles north of Arcata. (JS)

On 7/2 a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK arrived at a feeder in San Geronimo. This
individual looks like a second-year male with a lot of white speckling on a
distinct rose breast. Call 415-488-0151 to arrange with homeowners to see.

San Francisco County
------------------------------------------------------------------

On 7/2 a singing male NORTHERN PARULA was seen in the morning at Lake
Merced. It was observed at the top of a cypress tree in the north parking
area, near the west-most bottle brush. (LC)

On 7/1 a WRENTIT was seen and heard in McLaren Park, south of Manzell Road,
above golf course in a wooded area east of two large green water tanks.

On 7/1 a singing male NORTHERN PARULA was found at the boathouse at Lake
Merced, immediately south of the entrance road to Harding Park golf course.

On 6/30/01 a singing male NORTHERN PARULA was observed in the eucalyptus
trees at the entrance to Harding Park golf course. (EP, HC)


San Mateo County
-------------------------------------------------------------

On 7/3 a male NORTHERN PARULA was found in Pacifica. The mostly quiet male
was seen in San Pedro Valley Park at the east end of Linda Mar Blvd. It was
observed from 11:30 to 11:45 in an alder tree near the bridge over the
middle fork of San Pedro Creek; north of Walnut Grove group picnic area.

On 7/1 a singing male NORTHERN PARULA was found in San Gregorio, on the
dirt road between the end of Seaside School Road and first farmhouse. It
was located in the riparian area of the feeder creek that goes into San
Gregorio creek. (RT, CR)

On 6/30 a male HOODED MERGANSER was found in Pescadero Marsh, along the
creek with a group of common mergansers. (RT)
