Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday July 5. If you have anything to add call Harry

On May 23 a HORNED PUFFIN was seen off Cape Foulweather. It was still
seen last week-end and may still be in the area.

A bright male SUMMER TANAGER was at Millicoma Marsh at Coos Bay June 27
but did not remain. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was in Brookings July 1. A
PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was netted and banded July 2 at Odessa Campground on
Upper Klamath Lake. The LARK BUNTING continues to be seen near Fern Ridge
Reservoir.

The number of northbound BROWN PELICANS and HEERMANN'S GULLS continue to
increase as do the number of shorebirds moving south. An adult HERRING
GULL was on a northern Coos County beach June 28. Three BLACK SWIFTS were
at Bandon June 29. A FRANKLIN'S GULL passed Boiler Bay June 29. On July 1
three BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES were at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River.

On July 1 twelve SANDHILL CRANES were at Sauvie Island. Over 100 WHITE
PELICANS continue to be seen on the Island, possibly moving back and
forth between there and Vancouver Lake. There are still 38 WHITE PELICANS
at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

A family of SHOVELERS was at Ankeny NWR June 29. Three GADWALL families
are now at Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. and a BUFFLEHEAD family is
at Hatfield Lake near Bend.

A singing NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was below Salt Creek Falls June 28.
