What I really noticed the morning of July 5th (after a night of intense
fireworks around my house near Alki Beach, which was exceptionally
crowded due to the nice weather) was how quiet it was -- normally in the
early a.m. I hear a cacophony of house finches, house sparrows, robins,
BC chickadees, VG swallows, gulls, Caspian Terns, an occasional Bewick's
Wren and Steller's Jay, etc. -- but on the morning of the 5th all I
heard was one lone house finch. Fortunately this morning it sounded
pretty normal/noisy again.
