Saddle Mountain State Park, Clatsop County, Oregon
July 6, 2001 0445-1000hr

Neal Maine organized an effort to survey MARBLED MURRELETS
on the north side of Saddle Mountain. The site is inside the
state park, but accessible only through Willamette Industries
land and can be accessed only with permission (and a key), if
one wants to drive to the site (hiking or mountain biking is
permitted).

We heard and saw many murrelets, including 2 that buzzed
Lee Cain and I at about 15m. We saw a total of 4 flying out
and my best estimate of total murrelets coming in to be
between 9 and 12 individuals.

We also found 2 COPE'S GIANT SALAMANDERS in Fox Creek.

Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted

you must also be right.
