This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Friday, July 13, evening update.

Featured birds are Ruff and American Golden Plover.

Sightings for Friday, July 13:
The Ruff was relocated at Iona Island this evening in reeds along the
smaller
outer pond.

An American Gloden Plover was seen with 3 Greater Yellowlegs at the foot of
72nd Street in Boundary Bay.

Thursday, July 12:
Blackie Spit had 2 Whimbrel, and a large wader, believed to be another
Willet, has been seen at the compensation lagoon on the Tsawwassen Ferry
Jetty, but confirmation is needed as the bird was not clearly seen.

Wednesday, July 11:
A Ruff, just going out of breeding plumage, was seen at noon at Iona in the
southeast pond.

A female Black and White Warbler was at Campbell River Park, down the main
trail at the turn to the Whispering Bridge.

Tuesday, July 10:
Grant Narrows had 4 Eastern Kingbirds and a Grey Catbird.

The Willet was on the south side of the ferry causeway near Tsawwassen, and
their were 4 Black Oystercatchers along the compensation lagoon.


Monday, July 9:
A sub-adult Long-tailed Jaeger was seen at Clover Point in Victoria about
200
to 300 meters offshore. The bird was on the water, picking at things.

A Common Nighthawk was at 8th Street and 3rd Avenue in New Westminster.
In a late report for Sunday 2 Grey-crowned Rosy Finches were seen on the 2nd
Pump Peek on Mount Seymour.
