Our trips have been in February;  so observations now probably are
not as good

Through Oregon, Off of 84,Umatilla NWR. Ladd Marsh S of LaGrande. McKay
Creek NWR S of Pendleton has always been a dud for us. Check Region G,
Evanich, The Birder's Guide to Oregon, and Oregon Wildlife Viewing Guide by
Yuskavich. Check out raptor nesting areas on Snake River and World Raptor
Center S of Boise.

Sun Valley Area: Great areas in winter--especially raptors--but not sure
about now. Might check out Magic Reservoir, although we have never been
there. Go up to Triumph. Drive triangle, Bellevue, Gannett, Hy 20, Hy 75. S
of 20 is Silver Creek Reserve of National Conservancy, N is Heron rookery
(west of Heron Road -- road in to hatchery--??). Check crossings of Silver
Creek. ;Walks along Wind River N of Sun Valley; should produce sitings. There
is a woman named Poo Wright Pulliam, who conducted jeep type birding tours
out of Sun Valley. She made first siting of Siberian Acciptor there a few
years ago. You might try contacting her. Ed Level, Everett, WA.
