On 7/14/01 I covered much of Adams county WA finding 78 species.
235 miles in 16 hours. (plus 160 miles & 3 hours to get there & back!)
Found a few shorebirds including an adult SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER
and an adult BAIRDS SP near Othello. Otherwise small flocks of Least &
Western SP, & both Yellowlegs + 8 Long-Billed Dowitchers.

Found 3 SAGE SPARROWS, but only heard one song so they are now tough to
find.
Saw a SAGE THRASHER. It was not in Sage, so could it be migrating already?

At Cow Lake was a flock of 27 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS probably about to migrate.
I saw lots of WHITE PELICANS at Cow Lake & Sprague Lake. I think they are
moving between the two lakes. In evening 100 pelicans were settled in at
Cow Lake.

Found BURROWING OWLS at two new (to me) locations. I tried some owling /
poorwilling north of Wastuccan, but no luck. I did worry a few of the
locals whom assumed anybody
driving slow after dark was poaching. Close to harassment.
