Subject: Ross' Gull?

Yesterday morning I birded from Conway north to Samish Island. On March Pt.
Road near Anacortes I was watching about 200 Great Blue Herons at low tide
when I noticed a smallish gull flying from north to south. It was fairly
close and I got a very good look at it. I did not have my Sibley's with me
but I noted a distinguishing characteristic of this gull - it had a white
head with a narrow black collar. I looked it up as soon as I returned home
and the only bird that matches it is the Ross' Gull but it is very far away
from where it should be seen. I'm thinking about going back up there after
work tonight to see if I can find it again.
