This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Tuesday, July 17th evening update.

Sightings for Tuesday, July 17

The shorebird migration has intensified over the last few days. The Iona
ponds had reports of 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and many
WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen near the intersection of 168th & 40th in
Surrey. Also from Surrey came the sighting of 2 MERLIN near 106th & 148th.

Monday, July 16th

A REDKNOT in breeding plumage was seen near the foot of 88th on Boundary
Bay. At this same location was a count of 200+ SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS along
with 1000's of WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

An Iona highlights was 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS.

Out Chilliwack way at Cheam Lake Wetlands RP were a LEAST FLYCATCHER, 5
EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 2 pair of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES, a PEREGRINE & a GREEN HERON.
There were no reports for Sunday, July 15

Saturday, July 14

At Colony Farm on the Coquitlam side NE of the Forensic Institute was a
singing male LAZULI BUNTING.
