On July 17 a male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at a northwest Portland

Reservoir in Malheur NWR.

Early movements of warblers and other landbirds are now being reported.
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were reported during the week at Tillamook bay,
Necanicum River mouth, and at Sauvie Island. Care must be taken
identifying them as adult male WESTERN SANDPIPERS are now arriving
creating identification problems. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER flew past
Boiler Bay July 13. A MARBLED GODWIT was at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River July 15.

Huge schools of anchovies are being reported all along the coast
attracting large flocks of foraging birds. A FRANKLIN'S GULL was at
Brookings July 13. Large numbers of CASPIAN TERNS are now gathering on
the beach north of the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

A group of 11 SANDHILL CRANES was at Coon Point on Sauvie Island July 16.
The large flock of WHITE PELICANS on Vancouver Lake and the group at Fern
Ridge Reservoir continue to be seen. Five juvenile BLACK-NECKED STILTS
were seen July 14 at Baskett Slough NWR.

On July 15 a POORWILL and several BREWER'S SPARROWS were in the Linn
County Cascades near the western edge of the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness
