On Saturday 7/21 I spent a few hours looking for the Little Gull without
success. I couldn't even find the flock of Bonaparte's! Tides were low at
that time (10 AM-2 PM) and I assume that the flock was somewhere out of sight
over open water.

At 10 AM a flock of peeps north of the boat launch contained a juvenile
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, 20-30 LEAST SANDPIPERS, about 50 WESTERN SANDPIPERS,
and 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER. 3 PURPLE MARTINS foraged for a few minutes near
the pilings. On the ferry to the island I saw 2 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS. Plenty
of GLAUCUS-WINGED and RING-BILLED GULLS on the island, and on the north side
there were a couple CALIFORNIAs and an early MEW GULL. I saw at least 20
SPOTTED SANDPIPERS on the island as well, mostly north of the lagoon. No
arctic or common terns, but lots of Caspians. I guess I'll have to try again
for the little gull, this time at an in-coming high tide.
