Tweeters,
I'm in Las Vegas for business for the next several days and will
probably find time to do a some birding and hiking as well. I wonder if
anyone has birding experience/knowledge in the area within an hour or so
of the city. I'm particularly interested in seeing a Le Conte's
thrasher, which supposedly occur here.
Lesser nighthawks hawk for insects around sunset over the grounds of the
hotel where I'm staying on the west side of town; it's a pleasure to
watch them. I'm finding more bird activity than I expected out in the
desert washes as well; I guess they know how to deal with the heat.
