Tuesday, July 24, 4:48 PM. John O'Connell (360) 299-4375. Today at
approximately 1 PM at the Sammish Unit of the Skagit Wildlife Area on
Sammish Island Road in the second of the ponds southwest of the parking lot
a single WILSON'S PHALAROPE seen with LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, GREATER and
LESSER YELLOWLEGS and LEAST SANDPIPERS.

Friday, July 27, 7:01 AM. Hi. This is Tom Aversa reporting on a trip up
through Stanwood and Sammish Flats and down along Whidbey Island yesterday.
Some of the highlights of the trip: In Stanwood at the sewage ponds there
was a couple of male REDHEADS, also a LESSER SCAUP in there with a brood of
10 chicks, and a couple of American Wigeon.
Further north up on the Sammish Flats at the new ponds on the West 90
there were some shorebirds which included two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, an
adult and a juvenile and a good flock of LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS in there
also.
Moving on towards Whidbey: off of Swantown there were 4 PACIFIC LOONS.
Three RED-NECKED GREBES off of Libby (?) Beach and at Crockett Lake the
shorebirds numbers were fairly low as was the water level. But the juvenile
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was still present.but nothing else of major note there.

BirdBox last accessed Friday, July 27 about 11 AM.
