Subject: surprising sugar sippers

Just in the past few weeks we have noticed both Black-capped Chickadee and
Downy Woodpecker (not sure how many of each or even if there is more than
one) at one of our hummingbird feeders. They can perch on a nearby branch
and drink from a projecting tube. Some non-hummingbirds such as House
Finches and orioles are well known to visit hummer feeders, but I had never
observed or read about this behavior in these two species.
