Scott Gremel, Olympic National Park biologist, called this morning
(Saturday, 6/2) from Lake Ozette to report a singing male Northern Parula
at the Ozette ranger station. It is hanging around the riparian area
near the ranger station and the bridge across the Ozette River. This is
where the trails start to Cape Alava and Sand Point.

Scott, who is very familiar with this bird from his home in the eastern
U.S., said it is singing over and over in the alder tops of the riparian,
occasionally coming into view.

This is the same site where Scott heard and observed an Eastern Phoebe
last June -- perhaps this site warrants further notice for spring
vagrants?
