I was very fortunate this afternoon to see several Brown Creepers
"inspecting" the bark of a group of maples in Ravenna Park. There were
three young ones and at least one adult. The young ones were working the
bark along side the adult until at one point the three young ones met up
with each other and "clumped" together. (It almost seemed they were
delighted to see one another.) Then they stayed in that clump in the fork
of where a branch met the trunk. If I had not seen them come together I
would have thought they were a clump of fungus on the tree. Once together
they stayed put and the adult busily collected food for them and feed them.
It was a delightful half hour to watch.
