Tim Perkins and myself birded Thurston County today from 8:00AM, starting at
the Wier Prairie, then to the Black Hills, on to the Olympia Waterfront
ending at about 11:30AM

Highlights at Wier:
5 Northern Bobwhite, flushed 1 male, 1 female feeding close to the car, and
3 others calling.
1 Lazuli Bunting
4 Vesper Sparrows
3 Chipping Sparrows
10+ Willow Flycatchers
1 Western Wood-Pewee

surprisingly not a sign of a bluebird.

1 Western Scrub-Jay in Tumwater - not a difficult bird in the area, but nice
to see.

Black Hills at Rock Candy Mountain Road
2 Hammond's Flycatchers
1 Olive-sided Flycatcher
MacGillivray's Warbler
5+ Hermit Warblers
1 Gray Jay, for the coveted 3 Jay Day

And we both got our year Purple Martin at the nest boxes of East Bay Marina.

Good Birding
