May 31, 2001, Thursday, 10:28 p.m. Hi. This is Tom Aversa at 782-7342
reporting on a Birdathon trip to Kittitas County during May 30th and 31st.
Highlights of the trip included seven species of OWL, also COMMON GOLDENEYE
and RED-BREASTED MEGANSER from the Cle Elum ponds. A pair of GOLDEN EAGLES
from Robinson Canyon, and a mostly pure HERMIT WARBLER from Gold Creek up at
Hyak. I was joined on this trip by Dave Swain, Steve Gerstle, Rick Sanders
and John Friars, and we totaled at a 146 species for the 24-hour period.

June 1, 2001, Friday, 2:00 p.m. Hi, this is Sam Terry at (206) 329-9038,
and today I had a female BOBOLINK at Genesee Park in Seattle. Genesee is
south of I-90 and north of Seward Park on Lake Washington Boulevard, and
there is a fairly large meadow that runs north/south between Lake Washington
Boulevard and Genesee Street to the south, and the bird was on a small hill
in the southeast corner of this meadow where there's a lot of plantings and
a bench. It was loosely associating with HOUSE SPARROWS, WHITE-CROWNS,
SAVANNAH SPARROWS and STARLINGS. Fairly bright buffy yellow below. It also
disappeared into the middle of the meadow in the tall grasses, but came back
to the small hill. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

June 3, 2001, Sunday, 6:20 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. This week
Dennis Duffey, Sam Terry and I birded various points in the Columbia Basin.
Yesterday, Saturday, we had WHITE-FACED IBIS at Colotus (sp.?) Lake, as well
as a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and a couple BEWICK'S WRENS there. At the Walla
Walla River delta, we had a FRANKLIN'S GULL, adult breeding plumage, and at
the Yakima River delta we had a immature BONAPARTE'S GULL. Today, Sunday,
we had a RED-EYED VIREO at the boat launch of Wahluke Wildlife Management
Area, and that was about it. Good luck and good birding.

Today, June 3rd, I saw a pair of WILLIAMSON SAPSUCKERS at Swauk campground
on Highway 97. That's it. Good birding.
