I believe that there is no permanent stream as such feeding K lake and
that it depends on Spring runoff mainly. This varies from year to year
depending on variable weather conditions such as frozen or non-frozen
soil during runoff periods, amount of snow accumulation and whether it
comes off slowly or rapidly as under Chinook conditions, cloudbursts,
etc. True, the cropland rotation is wheat-fallow but this is pretty
much balanced out from year to year since not all the cropland is in
wheat one year and all in fallow the next. Much of the drainage area is
rangeland which responds to weather conditions as described above. The
last time I saw K lake was in late summer of Fall (can't remember exact
year)and it was bone dry.
