I birded the River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield NWR in Clark County
on June 5. There were two GREAT EGRETS with breeding plumes, five
AMERICAN BITTERNS, two VIRGINIA RAILS, and a flyover of a PEREGRINE
FALCON along the Kiwa Trail. By the parking area for that trail one
BLACK-NECKED STILT and three WILSON'S PHALAROPES were present. I, like
Sherry and Arden Hagen, only found a single BLACK TERN over the marsh.
There were still pairs of GREEN-WINGED TEAL and LESSER SCAUP in the
marshes, it appeared that the female scaup may have been on a nest.
