Greetings Again

Hal Opperman wisely suggested that I make some comment as to what should be
documented. Generally, this effort is requested for the rarest of birds.
These species are italicized on the WOS Checklist (and of course, any bird
not on the checklist should be documented, too!). Also, any bird that is
wildly unexpected should be documented -- for instance, a wood-pewee in March
or a Surfbird in Othello. Certainly, if anyone has any questions on whether
to write a bird up or not, I'd be happy to answer any questions, as would any
member of the WA Bird Records Committee.

Also, as a plea for improved communication-- please call birdbox
(206-281-9172) with any rarities of the caliber mentioned above. Some of the
recent rarities have not made it onto birdbox, making it difficult for those
away from their computers to keep abreast. I drove right past the Eastern
Phoebe on Memorial Day, not knowing it was there. Fortunately, the little guy
hung around.

Cheers
