For what it's worth, when I volunteered at the PAWS Wildlife Rehab
Center in Lynnwood, and they'd have a couple dozen juvenile crows together
in a big aviary, there were often a few which were noticeably smaller AND
had noticeably lower-pitched caws. I always wondered if they were
Northwestern Crows.
By the way, the crow with the long, beautifully down-curved upper
mandible is still going strong at Alki Beach. It's been around for more
than a year now.
