I observed the dove that has been frequenting the feeder in Yakima this
morning, got very good looks at it and heard calling many times. It is a
Ringed Turtle-Dove.

The song is a two-part cooing with the second part quite extended, unlike
the three-part cooing of the collared-dove.

The primaries are only slightly darker than the rest of the wings and back,
the undertail coverts are white.

It is slightly larger than the Mourning Doves seen close to it, as is
described in Sibley, though the measurements in the field guides show it
being shorter in length then MODO, due to its shorter tail.

It is a beautiful bird but I hardly think worth driving over hill and dale
to chase. Go look for the parula or Eastern Phoebe instead.
