Greets Tweets.
I have been having a great time watching green herons at Narbeck. It
is possible that I am looking at a nesting (or roosting?) platform. I saw a
couple mating there twice, and I also observed one of them passing sticks to
the other. It is such a crummy, flimsy, practically out in the open nest(?)
that I cannot credit it for being one. Still, two of them are consistently
there -- the first time I noticed the green herons at this particular spot
there were four there. The last three time I have been to Narbeck there have
only been two in the area.
Anyway, the point is (I'll bet you're glad I am finally coming to the
point) that I was hoping for a recommendation from a fellow Tweet for a good
book on the natural history of Green Herons. Does anyone have a suggestion?
I also watched 3 Virginia rails this morning. It was great. Narbeck
is a real treat early in the morning.
Thanks.
