Hi Tweets,

On Thursday, May 21, 2001,I did a late afternoon walk around the Boardwalk
loop of the Nisqually NWR in Thurston County and found a singing male Lazuli
Bunting. It was on the north side of the north end of the boardwalk about
35 yds. east of the "T" to the Twin Barns. The bird's preferred perch was a
35' multi-topped alder tree. The bird was singing constantly and should be
relatively easy to locate by voice.

I also looked for the Wilson's Phalaropes in the pond to the west of the
Twin Barns that were seen earlier in the week, but no luck. I did find
Spotted Sandpiper, Killdeer and Blue-winged Teal. You'll probably need a
scope to find the Phalaropes, as the pond is a fair distance away.

Good Birding,
