Saddle Mountain State Park, Clatsop County, Oregon
Date: June 22, 2001, 0930-1530hr

A troop of us went up Saddle Mountain today hoping the
sun would come out. It didn't.

We found at least one CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD at the saddle.
HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS were heard at the one mile mark
along the trail. We may have also seen an ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD
(large and dark), but it was flying away in bad light.

We were shut out on butterflies because of the weather
(only a single hindwing from a PALE SWALLOWTAIL), but the
wildflowers are still putting on a spectacular show.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
