Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday June 28. If you have anything to add call Harry
Nehls at 503-233-3976.

Two MANX SHEARWATERS were reported June 22 passing the Boiler Bay
viewpoint near Depoe Bay. The LARK BUNTING is still being seen along
Neilson Road just south of the Fern Ridge Reservoir. A COMMON MOORHEN is
still at the marsh near Krumbo Reservoir in Malheur NWR.

The first southbound shorebirds are now arriving with LEAST and WESTERN
SANDPIPERS being reported from many areas. Two LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were
at Bandon and one was at Coos Bay June 25. At least 22 WHIMBRELS were at
Tillamook Bay June 21.

On June 24 a VIRGINIA RAIL was flushed in a logged off burn east of
LaPine, and on June 23 a VARIED THRUSH was in North Eugene. Apparently
some birds are on the move other than shorebirds.

A WHITE PELICAN was at Yaquina Bay June 22. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was on
Saddle Mountain in Clatsop County June 22. A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON
was in Seaside June 26.

A pair of EASTERN KINGBIRDS are now apparently nesting on Bachelor Island
in Ridgefield NWR. On June 26 at least 101 WHITE PELICANS were at
Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie Island.

Twenty WHITE PELICANS were on Ochoco Reservoir near Prineville June 21. A
loudly calling LEAST FLYCATCHER was at Chukar Park near Juntura June 27.

The Steens Mountain road is now open to the east rim.

Thats it for this week.
