Hi all...I have recently moved and the new residence is shared with an
extended "family" of crows fed by the previous tenants, a practice I am
happy to continue...leftover oatmeal with raisins, raw p-nuts and b-o'd
sunflower seeds. On Monday the 18th I put my mother's desert tortoise in her
outdoor pen (double walled to prevent escape) and left for 5 hrs. I returned
to find her gone. After searching the surrounding berries, salal, willows
and various greenery to no avail, I could only hope she had been picked up
by a passerby. One week later to the day, the crows were vocalizing more
than usual, and their attention was focussed down on the ground...yep, there
was Henrietta. I made a big show of affection for Henrietta, thanked the
crows aloud several times and gave them a double handful of peanuts. My
heros! Amazingly, despite the rain we got out here, Henrietta appears to be
none the worse for her experience..a very tough broad. Her pen is being
modified to prevent further escapes.
