Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday March 1. If you have anything to add call

On February 26 an adult male SMEW was on the pond in front of the Malheur
NWR Headquarters. It has been seen daily since, usually in early morning.

Up to 6 MCCOWN'S LONGSPURS are still being seen on the Oregon side of
Lower Klamath NWR. They are with many LAPLAND LONGSPURS and HORNED LARKS
on a burned farm field along Stateline Road. Recently they have begun to
move to other nearby fields. The WHOOPER SWANS remain on the California
side of the White Lake Unit.

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD and CAPE MAY WARBLER continues to be seen along
Jerrys Flat Road east of Gold Beach. On February 25 a BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLER was in that area.

The SUMMER TANAGER is still at the Mill Ridge Estates in Cedar Mill west
of Portland. The male TUFTED DUCK is still at the Astoria Sewage Ponds
and at Bingen. On February 20 a female TUFTED DUCK was at Bingen; a SAGE
SPARROW was seen that day nearby.

Both RUFOUS and ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRDS are now on the southern Oregon
coast. Two VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were near Gold Beach February 27. Twelve
TREE SWALLOWS were at Coquille February 24. MOCKINGBIRDS were reported
during the week at Gold Beach, Flores Lake, Coos Bay, and Eugene.

A SAY'S PHOEBE was at Yaquina Head February 23. BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES
are scattered all along the coast with 1500 at Boiler Bay February 25. On
February 24, 94 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS passed Boiler Bay.

An adult GLAUCOUS GULL was at the Tillamook Airport February 24. Another
adult was at Astoria February 27. A LONG-EARED OWL was near the Astoria
Airport February 20.

Two TREE SWALLOWS were at Ridgefield NWR February 25. Eleven
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at the North Portland roost February 25.
A possible immature ICELAND GULL was near McMinnville February 23. A
HERMIT WARBLER continues to winter at a Corvallis feeder.

On February 18 a flock of MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES and two SNOW BUNTINGS were
on the top of Marys Peak southwest of Corvallis. Six TREE SWALLOWS and
two WHITE PELICANS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir February 24. A flock of
SANDHILL CRANES flew over Eugene that day. A VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW was
near Cottage Grove February 28.

A LONG-TAILED DUCK was below McNary Dam near Umatilla February 25. On
February 23 a flock of 8 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS was in the Big Lake area
of Santiam Pass. Two TREE SWALLOWS were at Lower Klamath NWR February 25.
