This is my first attempt at posting so----?? I was standing on the
observation platform overlooking the Puget Sound side of Nisqually NWR when
quake struck on Wednesday. Was watching an immature eagle through binoculars
and he seemed to hunch-up. I raised my eyes just then due to motion and so
didn't see what he did next. As I was standing there taking the ride of my
life (holding on to the piling for support) I did notice that every bird in
the area seemed to have taken flight. Afterwards it didn't seem to take
long, maybe 10 minutes, for them to have all settled down and gone back to
foraging etc. As I finished the loop it was if nothing had happened. I have
only been birdwathing a short time, didn't realize it was so exciting.
