noticed any intriguing animal behavior either before, during or after
today's earthquake?

I don't want to put much stock in reports like this, but I did hear a woman
being interviewed on KUOW who said she was outdoors at the time and that
just before the quake struck the birds started making a lot of noise. Also,
my daughter-in-law was in the living room of their apartment where they have
a large parrot, and just before the quake it started engaging in rather odd
behavior, holding onto a bar with its beak. The common folklore is that
animals can sense a quake about to happen, but if it's true they probably
don't anticipate it by more than a few seconds, picking up some subtle
disturbance that we humans don't feel.
