A recent posting on Tweeters refers to the Short-eared Owls west of the
intersection of Kwina and Hillaire Roads on the Lummi Reservation. THIS LAND
IS NOT PUBLIC PROPERTY. Bird watchers visiting this area without a permit
may be met with a very very firm demand that they leave immediately.

Birders on the Lummi Reservation should stay on named public roads unless
they have a permit to use Lummi Lands.

To obtain a permit to bird on the dike area go to the Lummi government
complex on the north side of Kwina Rd just over four-tenths of a mile east
of Haxton Rd. If you are approaching from Haxton Rd. turn left (north) at
the first entrance road for the office complex. Apply for a permit during
office hours at the reception desk in the first building on the left. Bring
identification. At present there is no charge.
