Subject: Lake City...Peregrine!?!

Hi Tweets,

Sorry for the belated report, but yesterday I saw a
*large* falcon fly over Lake City Way at about 115th.
It was headed east/northeast. Has anyone in this
neighborhood seen a peregrine around lately?

Judging from the size of this bird it was probably a
large female Peale's Peregrine. It was the size of a
small red-tail or nearly so. It was slightly heavy
bodied, and I thought it was a red-tail at first
glance, but it took a couple of deep wingbeats and I
realized as soon as it crossed in front of me (at a
distance of about 25 yards) that it was definitely a
falcon. The way it flew gave it away immediately.

Of course, another exceedingly unlikely possibility
comes to mind, but I am calling it a large female
Peregrine until I hear otherwise from someone :-)
