Hi Tweeters

'Note: the parking area at Eide Road requires a Washington Dept. of
Wildlife conservation permit for parking. I've noticed a number of
Tweeters sort of grumbling about these permits. (Out-of-state visitors
like John & Irma can be forgiven.) Let's stop grumbling and ALL buy
conservation permits and support WDW. If we do, maybe WDW will realize
how important birders are among the people who visit these areas, and
will make even more effort than they already do to consider our needs
in the way they manage their lands and access points.'

Gosh, maybe they will. Dream on.....
Here's a major grumble about paying user fees on Public Land. WDW has made
us pay to go on the west 90 site on the Samish Flats. What happened? They
took the money and paid someone to tear down two perfectly good barn owl
nest sites (barns). They didn't even recycle the material, just left it in
a pile. My take is that if a bureaucracy doesn't have money, it won't
think of and implement environmentally destructive ways (In the Name of
Improvement) to justify its existance.
