Hi Tweets:
The Mercer Island birders went on a trip w/ Bob Sundstrom on Monday to
Ridgefield. No rarities, but we had a beautiful sunny day, and saw lots of
the various races of Canada Geese. Ridgefield is a good place to study all
these birds. A Guide to Bird Finding in WA says, "the world's entire
population of the Dusky subspecies of the Canada Goose winters" ...there and
in the nearby Willamette Valley.
As usual, Bob had all sorts of good information for us. He told us to
carefully observe any abandoned Red-tailed Hawk nests we see these days. He
told us to look for the ears of Great Horned Owls in the nests. The owls
are on the nests right now.
Yours, Carol Schulz
