We had our first hummingbird this morning. He was at the feeder and then
went to the fallen alder branch he uses all summer. Last year we first saw
them on March 24 along with the violet-green swallows, so they are almost
two weeks earlier. I put up the feeder in the midst of snow last weekend
just in case. We had change in hummingbird reign last year as a juvenile
male fought with the reigning adult and killed him. I wonder if it is the
same bird here now.
