Hi Tweets,

I saw the albino Yellow-billed Loon while getting in a little
pre-workday birding at Dash Point St. Park, south of Seattle, this morning. I
know it has been seen just to the south in Pierce County, at Dash Pt. dock,
but I had forgotten all about this bird until it showed up this AM. What a
shocker! I would hardly have been more surprised to have seen a ghost, let
alone this ghostly loon.
If you go looking for it at it's former haunts along Ruston Way in
Tacoma and don't succeed, you might do well to check the other side of the
bay, starting at Brown's Pt, and working north to Dash Pt. dock and then the
park.
Overall the birding was somewhat quiet, with a local concentration of
10 Rhinoceros Auklets being the only other noteable sighting. I never
expected that I would bird at Dash Pt. (or anywhere in Washington) and have
the only loon I see that day be an albino Yellow-billed Loon.
