Hello Birders,
Was birding in Eastern Washington on Monday with Carol Schulz and Dan
Dunphy and had a few highlights, including 1 very secretive WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW (my first adult White-striped form in Washington) with a flock of
juncos and White-crowned Sparrows in the now burned area below Gingko State
Park, 2 AMERICAN DIPPERS building their nest under the Teanaway Bridge near
Cle Elum, a single LONG-EARED OWL in Lower Crab Creek, around 150 SANDHILL
CRANES heading out towards Othello, and 1 female SURF SCOTER in the Columbia
River seen from the Gingko overlook and also from the Wanapum Dam. The
LONG-EARED OWL was flushed twice, then finally was seen very well through a
scope. That's all for now, good birding!
