Hi, All:

What a weekend; gray and dank and dreary! On the other hand, what a
weekend!! Saturday morning a pair of Western Bluebirds were checking out the
bird houses within sight of my house. While driving into town (Spokane)
going south on Wood Rd. between Hwy 2 and Coulee-Hite Rd. a flock of 22
Sandhill cranes flew overhead, first heading east towards Spokane and then
turning northwards until out of sight. WOW! I have never seen Sandhill
cranes here - even for a short-lived flyover. Luckily, there was a wide
shoulder and no traffic so I was able to hit the brakes and swing off the
road without endangering anybody. When I jumped out of the car I could hear
the cranes "singing" - it was so great I was practically jumping up and
down!
