Greetings Tweeters;

For those of you who have access to Ft. Lewis, there is some pretty good
birding to do around Madigan Hospital right now. The lake adjacent to the
east side of the clinic (just north of the nursing tower) has a wintering
flock of GADWALLS as well as our usual compliment of BUFFLEHEADS, COOTS,
MALLARDS, KILLDEER and our resident MUTE SWAN. There are SONG SPARROWS
currently singing around the shores of the lake. At the north entrance to
the clinic, approx. 7 or 8 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS at at the feeders all day
long. They can be viewed from a distance of about 15 feet. They are
sharing the feeders with the usual array of HOUSE SPARROWS, JUNCOS and an
occasional RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH. The blackbirds are singing their 3 note
spring song.
