Hello, Tweeters,

A mature bald eagle and two red-tailed hawks had a lazy battle this
morning (8:15) in the tall firs near 405's Exit 9 (Newport Hills, west
side of 405).

One hawk took a long start and sailed straight at the perched eagle, which
defended itself by flapping its wings and hopping up to expose its talons.
The hawk then settled in a tree some ways away. About five minutes later,
it was the eagle's turn. It bombed down on the hawk, which had been
joined by another hawk, in a tree adjacent to the scene of the first
attack. The birds did not appear to touch one another. Then they all
circled off, seeminly hunting.

It was quite a sight!

Cheers,
