Columbia Estuary Report - 3/21/2001

An AMERICAN BITTERN was singing in the drain ditch behind the
Implements of Destruction kack on Wireless Rd this afternoon.

VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were flying around in my neighborhood
yesterday. Large flocks of TREE SWALLOWS are pretty easy to
find around Youngs Bay. The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD migration is
slowly picking up speed.

Todd Thornton saw a TURKEY VULTURE over Warrenton grade school
on Friday 3/16.

An adult GLAUCOUS GULL is being seen regularly in the gull flock
that moves between the Astoria waterfront and the landfill.

The Astoria Sewage Pond TUFTED DUCK has NOT been seen for
about 2 weeks (and I checked today).

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
