Nancy and Tweeters,
I am so sorry to hear of your bad news, I was up to Reifel a little over a
month ago and there were some people who I knew that had their car broken
into also. Their car was in the parking lot right next to the truck owned by
Veri, the gal who works in the gift shop there. She didn't see a thing. The
thief got away with their scope, a purse and a back pack. Unfortunately, I
think someone has figured out a way to get the job done without being noticed
by anyone.
I was over by the Langus Park in Everett on Thursday to take a walk and do
some birding and saw a car that had been broken into there also. When I
mentioned it to the park people, they were not aware of it.
In addition, my husband had over $3000.00 worth of carpentry tools taken out
of the back of his truck while it was parked in our driveway 4 years ago when
we lived in Everett. When we called the police, they said they could mail us
a report to fill out or if we really wanted to, we could have an officer come
and take the report. They did not expect we would recover anything and they
were very casual about the whole thing. It does happen too often for them to
really take the time needed to solve these thefts.
I think that it's best to bring with you only the valuables you can carry
and leave your car empty of temptation or at least void of things you might
really miss if they were taken. I take my I.D. and such in a little pouch
that I can slip into a pocket and a bag with room enough for other
essentials.

Take care,
