...............Nothing different or unusual seen yesterday on auto route
of River S unit of Ridgefield NWR north of Vancouver, Wash.
...............Humongous numbers of No. Shovelers and Coots. In far
lesser numbers, Pintails, Widgeons, Gadwalls, Scaup (Greater),
Ring-necks, Buffleheads, Mallards, Pied-billed Grebes, and.......2
female Hooded Mergansers. One Eurasian Widgeon spotted in a group of Am.
Widgeons.
...............Zillions of Canada Geese---both large and small.
...............Tree Swallows all over the place, along with Red-winged
Blackbirds, a Lincoln's Sparrow, and a few other kinds of common
sparrows. Plenty of the more "mundane" birds around.
................Swans and the Sandhills have apparently left for places
north.
................"Baptized" my new binos and spotting scope. My new tripod
is coming (....can't wait to "trash" my old, cheap, tripod which has
given me much grief in many ways). But we will save my reports on these
new optics for another day. (-:

................Cheers,
Gerald Hamilton
