BANDING REPORT- Neawanna Wetland Preserve
26 March 2001

Method: Up to eight 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

Notes: Net were set up late in the morning with the intent of
targeting RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS. Two females and a male were
captured and banded. A 4th female managed to back out of the
net before I could get to it. The RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (probably
ssp calendula) was banded 03-21-2000 and may represent a
returning migrant (the placed was loaded with RCKI most of them
singing to beat the band). The MARSH WREN was banded 02-06-2000.
The CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES were banded together 09-17-2000
as hatch-year birds and captured in the same group (though
different nets) this year.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
