Drug myself and my infant daughter out of bed reasonably early for a
change and motored over to the park for a couple of hours wandering the
north quadrant, starting at 7 AM.

"Our" highlights:

4 Varied Thrush (where are these guys later in the day, when I'm
usually there?)
Spotted Towhee singing (I just learned their song, so I'm excited
easily)
Pine Siskin at 5 meters, pooping
Brown Creeper
Male Rufous Hummingbird, first of year for me, feeding at Red Currant
8-10 Chestnut-Backed Chickadee
Band-tailed Pigeon (2 or 1 seen twice 400 meters apart)
Crow with several white spots on flank

No woodpeckers other than Northern Flicker. Except a brief look at a
Pileated a couple of weeks ago, it has been many visits since I have
had another at the park. Is it just me? Ditto on California Quail.
Saw a small covey last fall for the first and only time, despite the
"California Quail are everywhere in the undergrowth" in Hunn.

I'd settle for Happy Hour.
